Kelly Hamel
Paralegal
Staff Bio

Kelly is WMG’s first fully remote employee, supporting the firm from Florida since April 2022. She holds an A.A.B. in Paralegal Studies, and her experience spans civil litigation, criminal, employment, family, and corporate law, as well as estate planning, probate, and administrative matters, with a strong focus on legal research and discovery.

Before joining WMG, Kelly served in Florida’s Ninth Judicial Circuit as a Deputy Clerk, Executive Assistant, Criminal Evidence Specialist, and Criminal Records Specialist. In Montana, she first worked as a paralegal for five attorneys at the Department of Corrections, where she focused on litigation support and additionally investigated inmate grievances and tort claims. She also led the electronic judgment project for sentencing documents, coordinating with clerks of court to modernize record-keeping before the implementation of Montana’s e-filing system. She later served as a paralegal for seven attorneys at the Department of Transportation, where her primary role was litigation support, while also conducting legislative tracking, completing legislative histories, drafting administrative rules, and managing public information requests for the department. In addition, she worked as an investigator with the Department of Public Health and Human Services’ Child Support Services Division.

Her work integrates primary and secondary research with technology-assisted methods to verify, connect, and contextualize facts, while handling extensive discovery to support litigation and case strategy. Kelly is a member of the Montana State Bar Paralegal Section, the Montana Association of Legal Assistants (MALA), and the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA).

Outside the office, Kelly enjoys life in Florida with her husband and three dogs. She loves exploring beaches and backwoods state parks, photography, and taking cross-country road trips. A writer and researcher with a long-standing interest in history, political science, and genealogy, she has traced her roots to the Mayflower and proudly represents the fourteenth generation of her American family. She also creates digital media, occasionally turning the partners into comedic stars. During Montana’s cold winters, she keeps WMG’s team spirit bright with random parody legalese and sunny check-ins from Florida. Kelly has lived in New York, Florida, and Montana.
