A native of Anaconda, Montana, Mike McLean takes great pride in his “Copperhead” heritage. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Montana Tech in 1994 and went on to receive his Juris Doctor from the University of Montana School of Law in 1997.
Over the past 28 years, Mike has built a broad and accomplished legal practice. He has successfully represented clients in a wide range of cases, including motor vehicle accidents, personal injury claims, complex insurance disputes, employment conflicts, and high-value banking litigation against major national institutions. He also has significant experience in family law, including divorce proceedings and adoptions. Mike brings a personal and dedicated approach to every case, treating each client with the utmost care and attention.
Mike’s litigation experience spans both state and federal courts across Montana. He is admitted to practice before all Montana state courts, the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He is an active member of the Montana State Bar Association, the Montana Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Association for Justice. Mike has also served as president of the Third Judicial District Bar Association and the Anaconda Chamber of Commerce.
A devoted Montanan, Mike has long been involved in environmental and community service efforts. He served on the Upper Clark Fork River Basin Citizens Advisory Council under the state’s Natural Resource Damage Program, helping administer $130 million in restoration grants from a settlement with Atlantic Richfield. These funds supported vital projects that improved waterways, wildlife habitats, and drinking water in the Butte and Anaconda areas. Mike also served as president of the Anaconda chapter of Ducks Unlimited.
In 2014, Mike and his family relocated to Helena, where he joined the law firm of McMahon, Wall and Hubley. Following Mike McMahon’s election to the bench, the firm was renamed Wall, McLean & Gallagher, PLLC in 2015.
Outside the office, Mike enjoys exploring western Montana’s hiking trails with his wife and two children. He is also an avid fly fisherman with a deep appreciation for the state’s rivers and streams.
